Its Release Was Wildly Successful

On the Mustang’s opening day, 22,000 of them were sold in that one single day. Dealerships were backed up with requests for days afterward. In the first year, where Ford had predicted sales to hit 100,000 units, they actually sold four times that estimated amount.

The First Mustang Was Sold Accidentally

The very first Mustang was never meant to be sold, it was to be taken on a dealership tour. However, it was accidentally sold to a man in Newfoundland. The driver actually managed to get about 10,000 miles on it before Ford contacted him and offered a trade-in. He took the deal and the first Mustang is still on display in the Ford Museum.

The Mustang is a Star

One of the more fascinating facts about the Ford Mustang is that, in its over 50 years of production, it’s appeared in over 3,300 films and tv shows. The first major movie release it saw was in Goldfinger, and it’s been a common car in other James Bond movies as well.

The Most Expensive Mustang Was Over One Million Dollars

With only one test model ever built, the 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake sold at an auction for 1.3 million dollars. Other Mustangs have been estimated to be worth more, but the Super Snake was the most expensive Mustang ever actually sold.
